Thanthirigoda bowls Royal to historic win

Royal College recorded a historic six-wicket win over St. Joseph’s College on the back of a fine bowling performance by acting captain Maneesha Thanthirigoda in their 113th annual inter school cricket encounter at Reid Avenue yesterday. It was their first win in 16 years.
Thanthirigoda followed up his four wicket haul in the first innings with career best figures of seven wickets for 98 to dismiss St. Joseph’s College for 204 runs in their second innings.
Royal last beat St. Joseph’s way back in 1993 at this same venue under the captaincy of Gamini Perera who is incidentally their Head Coach now.

Wijesinghe’s five brings Wesley win

Skipper Dulanjan Wijesinghe returned astonishing bowling figures of five wickets for seven runs as Wesley College scored an innings and 44 runs win over Kingswood in their annual inter school Under 19 cricket match at Campbell Park yesterday.

Karunanayake hits ton

All rounder Nipun Karunanayake hit a century as Nalanda College forced a draw to their inter school under 19 cricket match against D. S. Senanayake College at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.
Karunanayake faced only 85 deliveries and hoisted four sixes and struck eight boundaries while Adeesha Nanayakkara also hit a 73 ball 88 inclusive of half a dozen of sixes and four boundaries.
