CR & FC AGM on January 24

The Ceylonese Rugby and Football Club (CR & FC) is set to conduct the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2010 on Jan 24 (Sun) at the Grand Pavilion at 11.00 am with most top posts expected to be filled by incumbent personalities for a second-term as per the club constitution.
CR & FC President Jehan CanagaRetna - a former Sri Lanka Youth and Royal scrum half - is expected to be returned for his second tenure along with Deputy President Rienzie Fernando, Vice President Chris Jordasche, Secretary Shantha Kurumbulapitiya and Past President Ravi Balasuriya.
Fernando, Jordasche, Kurumbulapitiya and Balasuriya are all ex rugby stars for a coterie of schools ranging from St. Peter’s, S. Thomas’, Royal and Trinity respectively.
Saneth Gamage is to be returned as the Restaurant Committee Chairman with Jeremy David as the Bar Secretary at this election of office bearers to one of Colombo’s oldest rugby clubs.
An exception would be the new appointments of ex-Thomian rugby captain and prop Gavin Jayasekera who is in line to head the Rugby Committee for the forthcoming club season with Ravi Edirisinghe to take up the post of Treasurer.
The red shirts have appointed Sri Lanka number eight and former Royal star Dushanth Lewke as their skipper for the 2010 season with former Sri Lanka and CR & FC captain and Isipathana MV hooker Viraj Prasanna as the head coach.
The red shirts have also recruited five top schoolboy rugby players for the new season including Sri Lanka Un-19 captain and outside centre Niroshana Fernando, Sri Lanka Un-19 left wing Vishwamithra Jayasinghe (both from Isipathana), and the S. Thomas’s trio of Sri Lanka Youth caps hooker Sachin David, flanker Roshenka Kodithuwakku and winger Arjun Manoharan.
