Northshore College to provide tertiary education under BoI
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka granted investment approval for Northshore College of Business and Technology to provide tertiary education services under the BoI.
The company will establish a modern training institute to provide tertiary education. The institute will provide tertiary qualification such as bachelors’ degree programmes and masters’ programmes in Information Technology, Engineering and Business Management faculties. The qualifications are provided in affiliation with recognised foreign universities as well as local universities. They also expect to provide training for professional qualifications as well.
Northshore College of Business and Technology is a joint venture between the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka with an investment of US $ 5 million. The institute located at Colombo 15 will mainly provide educational services to Sri Lankan students, and also expects to enrol foreign students from other Asian countries. The company will provide employment for a workforce of 55 of which about 30 will be in the academic staff. The institute expects to provide training facilities for 2400 students at the institute. Training is expected to commence in early 2011. Professor Niranjan Gunawardena, Director, Northshore College of Business and Technology said that they are looking at establishing branches in the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Central provinces to expand the education sector. |
