| Sri Lanka ‘A’
thrash Canada
Sri Lanka ‘A’ made short work of visiting Canada’s total of 175-9 as they coasted home to a 6-wicket win at NCC ground yesterday.
Left-handed Gihan Rupasinghe anchored the run chase with an unbeaten 72-ball 74 as Sri Lanka ‘A’ overhauled Canada’s total with 17.2 overs to spare.
Canada chose to bat first, but they couldn’t muster a decent score as pacemen Nuwan Pradeep and Ferveez Maharoof captured 3 wickets each.
However, number five bat Rupasinghe (5x4, 4x6) and Jeewan Mendis (29 n.o, in 55 balls) had to put on 105 runs in an unfinished partnership to guide Sri Lanka home after they had slumped to 4-75 inside 15 overs.
Scores:
Canada 175 for 9 in 50 overs (U Bhatti 34; N Pradeep 3/28, F Maharoof 3/37, S Senanayake 2/31)
Sri Lanka ‘A’ 180 for 4 in 32.4 overs (K Silva 26, G Rupasinghe 74no, J Mendis 29no) |
