DHL Global Forwarding Lanka win SLFFA cricket sixes

The renewed Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA) Six-A-Side Cricket Carnival was scheduled for October 31, 2009 at the Bloomfield Grounds, but due to bad weather conditions during the second half of the tournament, the balance matches were rescheduled by popular requests made by the participating teams.
Hence, the continuation of the SLFFA Cricket Carnival was held on Saturday, January 09 at the NCC ground. SLFFA member organizations DHL Global Forwarding Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. won the Championship Challenge Trophy (sponsored by Wings Logistics (Pvt) Ltd) with the runners-up being McCallum Cargo (Pvt) Ltd.
A total of 49 teams from member companies participated in this event while invitation matches were played by teams from the Sri Lanka Customs, Ceylon Association of Ship’s Agents (CASA), Sri Lanka Air Cargo Association (SLACA) and the SLFFA Cargo Services (Pvt) Ltd. The team from CASA emerged winners in the invitation matches while the runners-up were team SLACA.
The Chief Guest at the event was none other than Sri Lanka’s spin wizard, Muttiah Muralitharan, who presented the Challenge Trophy to the winning team.
Other distinguished guests such as Tony de Livera - Chairman - SLFFA, S. Mohandas - Vice Chairman - SLFFA, Dushmantha Karannagoda - Treasurer - SLFFA, Rohan Iduruwa - Secretary General - SLFFA and also the Past Chairman - SLFFA N Kadawatharatchie, Graeme La Brooy (Asst. General Manager - Sales Janashakthi), Ravi Liyanage (General Manager, Sales & Marketing - Janashakthi), Dilshan Fernando (Director - APL Lines), Anuradha Sooriyarachchi (Manager Sales - APL Lines), Anil Wijesinghe - Chairman SLACA, Nalaka Senanayaka - Immediate Past Chairman - SLACA, Nilan Gunethilaka - Cargo Manager - Ethihard Airways also attended this event.
