Senior DIG to oversee CID and TID

Senior DIG Keerthi Gajanayaka of the State Intelligence Service has been appointed over the heads of two DIGs of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).
This is the first time that a senior DIG has been appointed to oversee the CID and TID, which have always been under the direct supervision of the IGP.
At present DIG Nandana Munasingha is DIG, CID while DIG Chandra Vakishta is the DIG, TID.
Meanwhile, a number of controversial cases such as general Fonseka’s case and the assassination of Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickramathunga, are proceeding under the supervision of senior DIG Keerthi Gajanayaka.
