New Intelligence unit to be set up

A special fraud investigation division will be set up to combat multifarious frauds in the country.
Talking to LAKBIMAnEWS, SSP Maxie Proctor said that Sri Lanka did not have a separate intelligence unit for investigating frauds, but considering the number of organized frauds executed through advertisements on radio, television, and newspapers and through mobile phones, police headquarters have taken this decision.
“Once the new intelligence unit is set up, advertisements on radio, newspapers and television will be closely monitored, as some advertisements are scams. People have lost millions after being duped due to these advertisements” SSP Maxie Proctor said.
