to visit Sri Lanka
Chairman of NASSCOM, Harsh Manglik will be visiting Sri Lanka on August 9, as the Chief Guest of the Business Leaders Forum jointly organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM).
National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) is the premier trade body and the Chamber of Commerce for the IT / BPO industry in India. In this role, he is responsible for representing the Indian IT/BPO software and services industry to multiple stakeholders. His key responsibility areas include enhancing India’s leadership position in the global offshore IT-BPO and work towards further growing the market by enabling industry to tap into emerging opportunity areas and to strengthen the
Manglik brings with him over 30-years of global business and consulting experience, gained in several world class firms, spanning many domains including aerospace, automotive, electronics, telecom and IT services.
He has been an active participant in collaboration between industry and academia. He is a member of Carnegie Mellon University’s Presidential Committee on India. He previously served on the Founding Operating Committee at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the “Leaders for Manufacturing” graduate program.

Cabinet approves sovereign bond issue
The Cabinet has granted approval to issue International Sovereign Bonds up to one billion US dollars in the international capital market in 2010.
The bonds at appropriate longer term maturity are to be issued under the supervision of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank.
The government expects to use the proceeds of this bond issue to settle the high cost short term debt to improve the government debt management and maintain interest rates stability, the government announced .
The Central Bank issued a 5-year sovereign bond amounting to US$ 500 million with a yield of 7.40 percent in international markets in October 2009, on behalf of the government.

BOC NRFC Wasana Raffle Draw
BOC NRFC Wasana Raffle Draw for non-residential foreign account holders of Bank of Ceylon was conducted on July 20th at the Bank of Ceylon headquarters in the presence of Chairman of Bank of Ceylon Dr. Gamini Wickremasinghe.
This Draw which presents Big cash prizes for the winners is being held every 3 months and awards One million in cash for the winner.
In addition there are 20 prizes of Rs. 50,000/= and 30 prizes of Rs. 25,000/= for the draw being conducted every 3 months. In addition through the monthly draw 50 prizes of Rs. 10,000/= are being awarded to winners.
The NRFC winner for March 31st - June 31st quarter was T. Palaninathan who won Rs. 1 million in cash. He was an account holder of Metropolitan branch of Bank of Ceylon. Chairman of Bank of Ceylon Dr. Gamini Wickremasinghe drew the prize winning account numbers and the management of Bank of Ceylon too was present at the occasion.
Jaffna Education Fair
Arising from the resounding success of the first ever education fair held in Jaffna last year, the organisers Pico Events, have scheduled JAFFNA EDUCATION FAIR 2010 for September.
The need for quality education is on the increase in the region where several business establishments have begun to rapidly spread their wings to. This has made the need even greater. Jaffna remains the nerve centre of the North creating greater business opportunity for the people of Jaffna.
JEF ‘10 will be the link to educational institutes, with the vast student population of Jaffna. It is a market that many educational institutes need to explore.
JEF ‘09 was the first ever large scale education exhibition in Jaffna which saw over 50 local and foreign participants and over 4,000 visitors during the two exhibition days.
