The programme, which has been launched under the instructions of the President and the guidance of Consumer Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando, is being carried out until the farmers fetch a reasonable price.

The Dambulla economic Center is receiving large stocks of vegetables recently and as a result the vegetable prices have significantly come down making the farmers feel the pinch of falling prices.
The Chairman of the Dambulla Urban Council Jaliya Opatha has held discussions with Minister Fernando about launching a new mechanism to provide them a fair price by purchasing the vegetables directly from the farmers.
