President's middle son Yoshitaha Rajapaksa captained The Tuskers while the eldest son UPFA Hambantota district MP Namal Rajapaksa was the hooker.

First lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, who the chief guest, was introduced to the two teams before the match. Sri Lanka began their drive for the tournament with a 39-8 win over Chinese Taipei. Sri Lanka will play Thailand next on April 03
