TNA not split, talks on registration later

L-News---ITAK-PhotoThe discussions in TNA has ended with no decision regarding the registration of the party. The discussions were held under the patronage of the Mannar Bishop Rayappu Joseph.

MP M.A. Sumanthiran of TNA said that the minor parties in the coalition had agreed to remain in the coalition and to contest the upcoming North Provincial Council (NPC) election under Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK). The MP said that the parties had agreed to discuss the matter of registration later. Earlier there were speculations that several parties in the alliance were planning to register the TNA without the support of the major constituent ITAK.

ITAK also known as Federal Party says the TNA could not be registered due to legal barriers. However, the other parties in the alliance are mounting pressure on the ITAK to formally establish the alliance.

Besides ITAK, TNA is an alliance of three other former militant parties - Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) led by MP Suresh Premachandran, Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) led by MP Selvam Adaikalanathan, People's Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) led by former MP D. Siddarthan, and the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader V. Anandasangaree.
