Environment friendly paddy farming method revealed
With agrochemicals being identified as one of the main causes of chronic kidney disease which has rapidly spread across the country, the country’s
farmers have been faced with the daunting task of finding a suitable alternative or resort to cultivating without using pesticides.
Now comes the news of a possible solution for the dilemma which arrives in the form easy eco-friendly paddy farming method introduced by the “Hela Govithana” organization.
The organization provides farmers with seed paddy for free in order to pursue this method of farming and have also revealed information regarding the discovery of the herbal recipe used instead of farm chemicals.
Although its authenticity can be the subject of debate, it is said that the farmers using the method have received fruitful results.
While the program is currently spreading to several parts of the island, the cultivation of 100 acres of land under this method recently commenced in the Mahavilachchiya area in Anuradhapura.
