NTC warns buses joining strike will lose route permits

The route permit of buses supporting the strike action scheduled to be launched from midnight Sunday (19) will be cancelled, the Chairman of the National Transport Commission (NTC) Roshan Gunawardana has warned. He stressed that the strike planned by the All Island Private Bus Companies Federation (AIPBCF), based on several demands including a bus fare hike, was “unfair”, and warned that stern action will be taken against those not complying with the order given by the NTC.
The federation’s President Stanley Fernando had said that the indefinite strike would continue until their demands are met.
