It is difficult to impose a law to ban slaughter of cattle in Sri Lanka says the Minister of Public Administration & Home Affairs John Seneviratna.
The Minister said more than forced conversion what takes place in Sri Lanka today is people getting converted expecting various gifts, presents and positions and it is the duty of Buddhists not to get voluntarily converted.
He said no one would approve the manner cattle are herded into lorries and slaughtered inhumanly. The Ministers said banning slaughter of cattle would raise another issue and the government will have to answer to those who are used to eat beef.
