Amateur Golf
from tomorrow
The 123rd Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship will be played at Royal Colombo Golf Club from July 26 to 29.
The tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union is considered to be the second oldest amateur golf championship in the world, behind the British Open.
The reigning champion K Prabagaran will not be taking part this year as he has turned professional. And the 2008 winner Mithun Perera is the main contender for the title.
The Team International—another championship involving the visiting countries of Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India—will be played concurrently.
The championship is important for the Sri Lankan participants as good showing here will ensure their participation at the China Asian Games later in the year.
Etisalat and Infotechs (Pvt) Ltd are the main sponsor of the event. Infotech’s golf.lk will provide live updates of the matches. |
