Peiris shines in England

Captain Chathura Peiris shone first with ball and then with bat as visiting Sri Lanka Under 19 set a challenging 369-run target for England Under 19 on the fourth and final day of their first Youth Test at Northampton yesterday.
Peiris captured 5 for 44 as Sri Lanka Under 19 restricted the home side for 286 in the first innings, a single run less that what they had scored earlier.
Then Peiris contributed 66 runs off 87 balls with nine fours that helped visitors declare their innings on 367 for 9. A patient knock of 97 runs (174b, 12x4, 1x6) by Bhanuka Rajapaksa and two useful knocks by Kithruwan Vithanage (48) and wicketkeeper Denuwan Rajakaruna (45) had earlier bolstered the innings.
